Water$108
  • 2 drinkers — Bell or siphon drinker$12.65 ea · $25.30

5–8 L bell drinker with float and hanger

One drinker per 80 birds; double it during the hottest part of the day.

Chicks cannot reach an adult bell drinker in the first week.

  • 1 tank — Header tank$69.00 ea · $69.00

200 L food-grade tank, shaded, with tap and filter

Peak draw is about 54 L a day; hold two days against outages.

Ventilation & cooling$622
  • 1 fan — Circulation fan$109 ea · $109

50–60 cm basket fan, weather-rated, ceiling or post mount

Air movement over the birds is the cheapest heat relief in a naturally ventilated house.

  • 2 sides — Side curtain + winch$138 ea · $276

Woven polypropylene curtain, 15 m per side, rope winch and cleats

Curtains are how you trade night cooling against draughts on the chicks.

  • 1 line — Roof fogging line$207 ea · $207

Low-pressure misting line with filter and solenoid, nozzle every 3 m

Fogging plus air movement buys 2–4 °C in the hottest hours.

  • 1 lamp — Dimmable LED lighting$29.90 ea · $29.90

Dimmable poultry LED, 20 lux at bird level, IP65

Light programme drives feed intake and rest; dimmable beats on/off.

Floor & litter$22.50
  • 90 kg — Bedding material$0.25 ea · $22.50 / cycle

Kiln-dried wood shavings, rice hull or chopped straw, 5–8 cm depth

  • 2 units — Min/max thermometer + hygrometer$20.70 ea · $41.40

Digital min/max thermometer with humidity, bird-level mounting

Read temperature where the birds are, not at head height.

Handling & weighing$274
  • 1 scale — Weighing scale$80.50 ea · $80.50

Digital platform or hanging scale, 0–10 kg, 5 g resolution, with basket

Weekly sample weights are the only way to know you are on the breed curve.

  • 7 crates — Transport crate$27.60 ea · $193

Stackable poultry crate, 10–12 finished birds per crate

Catching day goes badly without enough crates staged in advance.

Biosecurity$74.75
  • 1 station — Foot dip + boot brush$23.00 ea · $23.00

Shallow dip tray with brush, one per entrance, refilled daily

Most disease walks in on footwear.

  • 1 sprayer — Knapsack sprayer$51.75 ea · $51.75

16 L knapsack sprayer, dedicated to disinfectant only

Terminal clean between cycles needs proper coverage, not a bucket.

Per-cycle inputs$900
  • 1 ×5 L — Disinfectant + detergent$29.90 ea · $29.90 / cycle

    Broad-spectrum poultry-approved disinfectant, per-cycle terminal clean

Cleaning between cycles is what keeps mortality where you planned it.

  • 150 chicks — Day-old chicks$1.40 ea · $210 / cycle

Ross 308, vaccinated for Marek's and Newcastle, hatch date confirmed

Order by hatch date, not by delivery week — chick quality sets the whole cycle.

  • 752 kg — Feed (starter / grower / finisher)$0.85 ea · $639 / cycle

Starter 150 kg, grower 286 kg, finisher 316 kg

Phase split assumes the breed curve and your realistic feed conversion.

  • 1 ×1000-bird kit — Vitamin, electrolyte and vaccine kit$20.70 ea · $20.70 / cycle

Multivitamin/electrolyte soluble powder, Newcastle and IBD doses per local schedule

Placement and heat-stress days are when this gets used; buy before you need it.

Who to approach in Caribbean

Broiler.ai does not take a commission or rank paid listings. These are the supplier types that exist in this region and the questions that separate a good one from a bad one.

Agricultural extension office

Public advisory services that verify suppliers and sometimes subsidise inputs.

Permits, verified supplier lists, training
  • →Which hatcheries and feed suppliers are currently registered?
  • →What registration or permit do I need at this flock size?
  • →Are there input support or credit programmes open now?
Farm store / co-operative

General agri-retail carrying feeders, drinkers, bedding and small brooders.

Small-flock kit, bedding, quick replacements
  • →Do you have bedding in stock by the bale, and what is it?
  • →Can you order pan feeders and nipple parts, and how long does that take?
Hatchery or chick agent

The source of day-old chicks, and usually the most honest read on local disease pressure.

Chicks, vaccination schedule, placement dates
  • →Which hatch dates can you commit to, and what is the cut-off to confirm?
  • →What is the parent flock age and which vaccines are given at the hatchery?
  • →What is your policy if chick quality or count is short on arrival?
Feed mill or feed distributor

Sells starter, grower and finisher, often with volume pricing and delivery.

Feed, phase programme, bulk pricing
  • →Can I see the current specification sheet for each phase?
  • →What is the price per tonne delivered versus collected, and what volume triggers a break?
  • →How fresh is the stock, and what is the shelf life from the mill date?
Poultry equipment dealer

Feeders, drinkers, brooders, fans, controllers — new or refurbished.

Capital kit, spares, installation
  • →Is this quote supply-only or installed and commissioned?
  • →Which spares do you hold locally, and what is the lead time on a fan or regulator?
  • →What warranty applies, and who services it in my area?
Veterinary and animal-health supplier

Vaccines, cold chain, disinfectant, diagnostics.

Health programme, biosecurity consumables
  • →Is the vaccine cold chain unbroken, and can you show the storage temperature log?
  • →Which disinfectant is approved for poultry housing here at what dilution?
  • →Do you offer post-mortem or lab diagnostics if mortality spikes?
Processor, buyer or integrator

Where the finished birds go — a live-weight buyer, abattoir, or a contract integrator.

Offtake price, catching logistics, contract terms
  • →What live weight and age do you want, and what is the penalty band outside it?
  • →Who catches, who transports, and who carries mortality in transit?
  • →How and when is payment settled after delivery?

Before you pay anyone

  • Get three quotes on the same written spec — otherwise you are comparing different products.
  • Ask what is excluded: freight, duty, installation, regulator, hose, spare shutters.
  • Confirm lead time in writing against your placement date, not in general terms.
  • Check which spares are held locally; a fan that waits six weeks for a motor is not cheap.
  • Pay a deposit, not the full amount, until delivery is inspected and counted.
  • For chicks and feed, confirm the hatch or mill date, not just the delivery date.
